Background:

Hsuan-Tung is from Taiwan, and he graduated from National Taiwan University with a B.S. in physics in 2015. During his undergraduate years, he focused on interdisciplinary study about atomic physics and quantum information science. At Princeton University, he would like to explore theories of photonics and develop techniques for implementation of photonic neural network. Beyond academics, he enjoys outdoor sports such as biking, hiking, jogging, playing baseball and basketball. He also has cool experience in run a half marathon and cycling around Taiwan.

Mitch was a recipient of the John Ogden Bigelow Jr. Prize in Electrical Engineering and co-winner of the 'Best Engineering Physics Independent Work Award' for his senior thesis. Outside of research, he has an active interest in music, composition, and jazz performance: he has participated in the Princeton University Jazz Program, was a member of the Composer's Collective, and is currently the keyboard player and longest running member of the Sensemaya Afrobeat All-Stars. Mitch is pursuing a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering under Prof. Paul Prucnal to continue his undergraduate work on his excitable, photonic neuron. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.

Philip graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China with a B.S. degree in Physics in 2014. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D degree in electrical engineering at Princeton University.

Aashu is from Kathmandu, Nepal and graduated from Bates College, a small liberal arts college in Maine, with majors in Physics and Mathematics. She is currently a second year in the Lightwave lab.

Outside research, she enjoys travelling, sketching, painting, running, cooking and coffee.

Background:

Passionate about computers, Thomas has started his undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering at ITA, a top school in Brazil. Two years into his undergraduate course, he was admitted to the traditional French École Polytechnique, in Paris-Saclay, where he majored in Applied Physics with emphasis in optics and nano sciences. Physics is beautiful and pleasant for Thomas, but he enjoys engaging in exploring other sources of beauty and joy available: arts, writing, skiing, swimming, music, history & geopolitics, good cooking, travel and languages.
